G10 Favelas
About us

The favela doesn't need to be rescued. It needs to be recognized.

G10 Favelas is a nonprofit organization — a bloc of leaders and social-impact entrepreneurs from Brazil's largest favelas. We were born to prove that the periphery is potency: economic, social and human.

Who we are inside

Mission, vision and values

Mission

Turning exclusion into opportunity

To make Brazil's favelas hubs of economic and social development, fostering inclusion, innovation and entrepreneurship in the country's most vulnerable communities.

Vision

The favela recognized as potency

A country where the favela is seen not as a place of scarcity, but as a vibrant center of opportunity, creativity and human potential — connected, invested in and leading.

Our values

Five principles that separate a gesture from transformation.

Agency

The favela leads its own transformation. No one decides for it — they decide with it.

Organization

Solidarity becomes impact when there's method, network and people on the ground who know every alley.

Dignity

It's not charity. It's respect — and a real chance to prosper.

Potency

The periphery doesn't need to be rescued. It needs to be recognized, connected and invested in.

Transparency

Every donated resource becomes good for the community. And that's measured, number by number.

The bloc

Inspired by the G7, driven by the favela

We are a bloc of social leaders and entrepreneurs from Brazil's ten largest favelas. Like the great global economic blocs, we bring together these communities' most innovative and influential minds to act as one — sharing knowledge, resources and strategy to maximize impact and sustainable development for those who need it most.

Our fronts

We're not a project. We're an organized network working on several fronts at once.

Innovation Hub

500+ consultancies. An accelerator for startups and social-impact projects born in the favela.

G10 Bank

A bank built in the favela for favela residents — credit and services that make new businesses possible.

Favelas Brasil XPress

Logistics and e-commerce that connect the favela to the country's digital commerce.

Favelas Stock Exchange

Connects investors to local businesses, turning potential into capital.

AgroFavela Refazenda

Community gardens and Urban Farmers fighting hunger with conscious nutrition.

Slum Summit

The largest gathering of leaders, investors and entrepreneurs from Brazil's favelas.

Our history

From Paraisópolis to Brazil

2019

Founded in Paraisópolis (São Paulo) by community leader Gilson Rodrigues. That same year, the 1st Slum Summit gathers 1,200 people to discuss solutions for the favelas.

2020

During the pandemic, we distribute millions of meals and hygiene kits. The "Street President" initiative is born to protect the communities.

2021

We launch Favelas Brasil XPress (e-commerce logistics) and the Favelas Stock Exchange, connecting investors to local businesses.

2022

Brazil's Favelas Week arrives in New York, with stops at the UN and the NY Stock Exchange. Back in Brazil, AgroFavela Refazenda is born.

2023

The Business Hub consolidates as an accelerator and the Slum Summit becomes an annual event, drawing ever more investors and entrepreneurs.

Today

Over 400 communities connected across 5 regions. 17 million Brazilians in one movement — and we ask no permission to transform.
